About Us
Great Escapes is a unique travel agency specializing in cruises and FITs, and
offering excellent service in providing personal and business travel services
to individuals and companies all over the Bay Area. Fast approaching its third
year anniversary in October of 1997, Great Escapes
was founded by Sandra Kretchmer and Debbie Poulton. They invited
independent contractor Jan Toulon to come on board in in September of 1995.
Sandra Kretchmer, Chief Financial Officer
Sandra was born in San Rafael, California and graduated from Mills
College in Oakland with a BS in Business/Merchandising. She made
her first two transatlantic crossings at age 21 and got the "Travel Bug."
Marriage and family intervened for 23 years. However, during this period
the family traveled, and for five years Mrs. Kretchmer took children to
Europe for the Foreign Study League of NYC. In 1976, Mrs. Kretchmer became
a travel agent in San Rafael leading European land tours and concentrating
on Foreign Independent Travel and cruise itineraries. "The Bug" never left...
She is well traveled in Europe, the UK, the Orient, South America, South
Pacific, Mexico, Hawaii, and the Caribbean.
Debbie Poulton, President
Debbie was born in Pittsburgh, PA, eons ago, and graduated from Beaver
College for Women in Philadelphia with a BA in Fine Arts. Debbie spent 3-1/2 years
in advertising before joining TWA as a ticket agent/rate expert. She "retired"
in 1984 to become a Travel Agent. She is well traveled in Europe, the UK, the Orient,
Mexico, the Caribbean, Hawaii and she is an AIRLINE COMPUTER WIZARD!
Jan Toulon, Independent Contractor
Jan is a native Marinite, a graduate of the Katherine Branson School, and of
University of Oregon in Fine Arts. She is married and has successfully raised two
sons and a daughter.
The last 20 years, Jan has been in the travel industry concentrating on European
FITs and tours. Jan is fluent in French and Italian. She is well-traveled in
France, Greece, China, the Orient, Mexico, Hawaii, South Seas, and the Caribbean.
